Chester River Mud Painting turned 8, January 23, 2023, inside the Johnson Museum

(Did the microbes have a party? I bet they did!)

This website was initiated when my oldest surviving mud piece turned 8, inside a show at the Johnson Museum celebrating the 2000 year anniversary of Pliny the Elder. While of course this reflects a Western tradition, the microbial life featured here knows no geopolitical bounds and is likely to be our shared ancestor in this endeavor called ‘life’.
